Decoding the Sidewall
Before you calculate, you must translate. A typical tire code like 205/55R16 holds the secret to your car's geometry.
205: Width
Measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall.
55: Aspect Ratio
The sidewall height is 55% of the width. This is the "cushion" of the tire.
16: Rim Diameter
The diameter of the metal wheel (rim) in inches.

The Danger of Diameter
